I love Thai Basil and have planted some in my garden since I can only find it for sale at local Asian grocery stores. I don't think that it would make a good pesto because of it's taste profile. Why don't you harvest and store some for winter use? My favorite way to store basil, any kind, is to coat the leaves in a little bit of oil and throw them in a ziplock bag in the freezer. Then when you need some you just take out what you need. The Thai basil is fantastic in soups, salads, marinades, and stirfry. Basically any kind of Asian food and recipes it works great with.

I never let my go to seed and always pull them up at the end of the season. I assume that it will behave just like sweet basil and die after going to seed.

I'm living in the Philippines, so we are in a tropical country. I'm not sure if that would change how basil varieties would thrive. But anyway, I think maybe I'd gift some to my friends and relatives.

It makes a great tasting tea. It has medicinal properties. Very easy to grow from seeds.

You should use it to make basil chicken or basil shrimp. You can sauteed a lot of basil into the stirfry for great flavor. It will taste like sauteed greens.
