I agree with TanCalGal. I'd also edge the driveway with a bed of flowers. Depending on where you are located, perhaps a row of blue and pink hydrangea bushes, or easy care Knock-out roses.

If you are up for a significant remodel, you may consider adding an entry space up front to be more welcoming. Lots of design possibilities on how to do that, it would depend on the aesthetic you are going after, but certainly doable.

Unfortunate that you don't like the architecture as it is spectacular. To change that oh so dramatic modern design is going to take a professional I believe.

The house is stunning! I would remove some of the concrete in front of it and re landscape the area. Have a landscaper look at it.... Less concrete and more natural materials will provide a frame for an interesting, attractive home. Good luck! And post updates!

Congrats on your fantastic house! I also agree with the other comments. Improving the landscaping (less concrete if your budget allows) and painting the trim and siding will enhance the terrific architecture.

Rachuba - the OP said they are buying the house for the lake view behind it. I know that real estate around the popular lake near me is you take what you can get unless you have an unlimited budget.

Remove the dead tree, add a broad circle of brick pavers from the corner of the house out to the central island to create a sense of arrival to the entry area, where guests will be warmly welcomed, before being wowwed by the view through the house to the lake front beyond.

I get they wanted the view, but so many OP are asking us how to change the home they just bought into something else entirely. Modern to French Country, Mediterranean to Farmhouse, Saltbox to Modern. I always wonder why they bought the house if they didn't like it. I hope it's one hell of a view!

I like the house maybe just a taupe grey color in place of the tan and landscaping. The lack of windows in the front makes it feel unwelcoming I think.
