they are adorable dogs!! the only thing i really know about them is that they are a herding breed. herding breeds need a LOT of exercise or they will become bored very quickly. where did you meet the dog? hopefully, it is a responsible breeder and not just somebody popping out puppies for the $$$.

In A2. They got it from a reputable dealer in MN. The owner told me they tried to get one in Michigan but they didn't have enough pups. When I talked to the Michigan breeder, she knew the owner of the dog by name and why she went to MN.

Yup - they are athletic and energetic but seem to have an off switch when indoors providing they had their exercise for the day.

We both bicycle and cross country skiers and I run (or hope to start again after I heal from a recent bicycle accident - hoping to try again Tuesday - I can ride but still had pain running)

We considered GSH, GSD, Pudelpointer, standard poodle, Pyrynean shepherd, Malinois and others. I think this one might be the mist mellow of the gruppo.

I have a friend who has 2 Picards, the first of which she flew to Denmark to get! This friend of mine is kind of a homesteader, i.e. she has horses, sheep, goats, chickens. I think she hoped that they would protect the sheep and goats but that did not work out for her (one of the dogs killed one of the animals). So she bought 2 pyrenees to guard the sheep & goats. The Picards are solid members of their family though, happy inside and outside. I know she doesn't have time to exercise them per se, but she has a large property that they roam on. They are sweet to me when I visit. Adorable too, but with enough edginess that I think they would provide some protection.

I have a golden doodle from Fox Creek Farm that I have to say is the BEST dog I have ever had. Adorable, loving, loyal, funny, active, and smart.

Thanks! We don't have any animals to herd- just us! I am in love and am in the process of contacting breeders.

I considered the Pyrenean but even more rare than the BP and seemed a bit more protective.
