That looks similar to common Pokeweed, an unwanted plant spread around by the birds that eat the seeds it produces.

It does not look like my pokeweed. Investigate more before you start yanking!

To kill pokeweed, dig up the tuber if possible. If that can't be done, clip off the stalk and paint the stem with undiluted roundup, then rinse and repeat as new stalks come up until you exhaust the root.

Or pour boiling water on the root. I've never had to reapply, for pokeweed. Native in USA, and definitely beloved by birds. Has undeserved reputation as a "tough weed," not hard to kill or pull sprouts at all, where not wanted.
