My parents purchased some IKEA closet systems in the past. They said they took days to put together and were awful quality. Yet, they have mixed reactions because their concepts really are quite genius. They still have the built in system now they just don't care for the flimsiness. So looks wise and function wise it can be okay, but time and quality wise can often be disappointing. For the price, however, I do still endorse using their products to those who ask. Just be sure you know what your getting into and accept that. I have seen some very nice IKEA kitchens and some very terrible IKEA kitchens. Life's what you make it.

Thanks Miranda. I sent a note to the paretoblog.com author and he said that the cabinets took less than two days to put together and install. That seems reasonable given the savings compared to other companies and i'm learning the Ikea hardware (soft close doors and drawers) is top notch.

I am sure you will be pleased with your decision. :) Just a thought, the appliances make a large difference. Make sure you invest in a high end appliances such as those in the photo to insure your kitchen has the same effect.

Vilfredo, You can see a wide range of semi-customized IKEA kitchen projects if you click on my Houzz page.

I have had Ikea cabinets for almost 20 yrs in 2 different homes and in many clients houses, they stand up very well are decently priced and their hardware is awesome.Just so you know that pic is of a pretty small kitchen so that is the reason for the short build time.I have also designed some pretty cool islands using Ikea cabinets and lots of storage designs that look custom from Ikea cabinets.

This pic is froman Ikea kitchen that was 8 yrs old in the pic and is still going strong 6 yrs later.
