You can Match it with the appliances, Black Granite.
If you have a bit of a Budget space you can get the cabinets refinished in a more lighter approach grey/white (antique style) with the Black Granite.

Mesabi or Absolute Black would be good, but also Labrador Green would look nice. It has some mica in it that shows copper / gold and would bring in the current color of the cabinets and floor.

Beth, I will add my thoughts...If you and your family are neat and tidy people in the kitchen, black counters would be fine. However, for the rest of us, please know that black granite shows every crumb or bit on it and never looks as good as the day it was installed.

Black granite ( no 4 inch extension up wall) would be nice. Consider some specs/ movement to pick up cabinets. Go to a stone/ granite store. You'll fall in love with something!

A cream colored granite with hints of gold and black in it goes well with golden cabinets and black appliances and would lighten up your kitchen. Consider adding dark hardware to cabinets as well.

How about black granite in the leather finish? It's quite stunning and you won't have the constant wiping down the shiny black granite water spots.
