It looks like a native bee balm (monarda).

I love monarda! I just cut mine back to the crown. This is the first year it got this tall, about 5 feet or so. Had to be all the rain.

The rain has made things get ridiculously tall. I love it. My cannas seldom get enough rainfall to reach 8' in height (and I never water them, so they have to survive only on the rainfall they get) so I'm loving having them so tall and beautiful. Still, I wouldn't would as much rain every year as we've had so far this year. I've never seen monarda get that tall here, but ours is in the pastures of mixed grasses and forbes, so it has a lot of root competition in less than desirable soil.

I have monarda that is approaching five feet tall! I thought maybe it was a combo of several factors: rich soil, plants too close together, and lots of rain...maybe it is just the rain!
