This only works if you live in a Mediterranean climate. I have had very little success with 100% perlite or that paper towel baggie method. Had some success with the sphagnum moss baggie method. My best so far is two ways.

One, just put them in ground horizontal with well drained soil, a water source, and dappled sunshine.

Two. Make sure it's 100 degrees outside. Wrap the tips with paraffin tape to prevent moisture loss. Stick the bottoms in a vented water bottle for drainage, and only water once every 6 days, and keep these things in shade outside where they are not subject to air conditioning or false heat..

Once you see roots and growth pushing from the cutting in the water bottle, shift it to a 1 gallon pot. Again. Do not water for 6 days. This is sort of a wing it thing. If you stick your finger in the top 2 inches, and it's moist. No need to water.

And the little push for growth. Both of these trees had serious roots in their clear vented water bottles.

I use 1" of perlite on top just to discourage fungus gnats, but you can see on this one, there is another branch about to burst. I love the Paraffin tape. Prevents me from having to babysit a humidity chamber. I really don't have time to babysit.
