I have the same problem with my tomato plants, one in particular. My plants are in a large above ground planter, and suddenly in the last ten days, the healthiest and biggest plant suddenly had all the newest stem tips wilt, and the newest leaves shrivel.

I collect rainwater, and some water running off my lawn (which includes excess irrigation water) to water my plants. If my lawn maintenance guy recently applied herbicide to the lawn, then is this the kind of damage one would expect? I saw damage like this last year, but later in the season, and not as quickly causing extensive damage.

I have not used a weed killer since spring of 14 and my closest neighbor that has is over 200 yards away. Last year it was way worse but the plants never died, just kept growing deformed and were green as they could get. I have used weed killer for 30 years in the past and never had any problems. This is really weird as the problem is at the tips of the plant and only on maybe 10 plants out of 36. So I guess I have to wait it out and see what happens.

I read the link, not sure where you are pointing me to. I do not use any compost, and only grass clippings from my yard which has not bee treated in over 14-15 mos. The plants that are affected are only at the very top of the plant for about 6-12 in length and the rest of the plant is fine. Even the bad area is very green and trying to grow, just deformed. I have peppers right next to them and they are doing fine. Thanks for reading my info and thanks everyonf for your help.

Okay, if you didn't add any manure or compost, then the stuff drifted in on a breeze from somewhere else. The stuff can float on a breeze for several miles, but likely the source is closer to your place.
