Some people buy rescues at marked down prices and revive them. Depends on your growing conditions and experience.

Wrinkled leaf = worry

Reddish tones on leaves= probably not a worry.

Assuming they did not put them on outside racks that were not covered by shade cloth, my philosophy is that if its been in the store (especially wally world) 3 to 5 days you will probably have a pretty long recuperation period.

It generally goes one of two ways......Either the watering person (who was probably hired earlier in the week) is told to water everything and don't let anything dry out, so they proceed to fill the decorative containers that come with the plants with water, and keep them that way. Or, they get told that orchids like to get dry before they get watered, so they just don't bother for a week or so.....

If they did put them on outside racks not shaded, one good sunny day and they are cooked, so there you go.

I'm with arthurm, wrinkled leaf is a concern. After reading your description of the leaf and stem color, I could have told you the color of the blooms. Phals. with purple/dark pink flowers carry the pigmentation in stems, leaves, and new growing root tips. Whites don't.

Unless you just want to get a "nurse me back to health" bargain, hang around the big box stores a while and get plants that are fresh. The blooms last longer, and your headaches are markedly reduced.

Thank you both for your advice. As pretty as the flowers were, I think that I am glad that I decided not to buy it. I thought about buying it, but I was worried about the stress it is under and the stress of being transported and adapting to a new environment. I didn't want to stress the orchid out to the point that it might die. Hopefully someone with more experience rescuing sick dehydrated phalaenopsis orchids will buy it and give it a loving home and the attention, care, and TLC that it so desperately needs. I think that the bud blast was probably caused by the plant trying to conserve water and sacrificing some buds in the process.

You sound exactly the person to buy that orchid. Doesn't require a lot of experience.

Thank you but unfortunately I don't have any experience rescuing sick phalaenopsis orchids :/ I would have to think about it. I did love the colour of its flowers though. Maybe if someone could give me advice on how to rescue it or how to rehydrate it, I might consider it. I just don't want to buy it and have it die within a few days because of stress.

Hello actually the leaves look pretty good except one leaf has a little bit of wrinkling on the tip and a little bit of reddish colour. The buds that have blasted look more shrivelled but otherwise it seems ok. I went back to Walmart to look at. I might decide to buy it, not sure yet.
