My pendants over the island are a very, very dark bronze colour.

Island is dark gray

Both of your choices look nice, but have you sat in them? They don't look comfortable. What about something more molded to the rear?

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to try to sit on these exact stools. I found them online. I did try a very similar one to the gun metal stool at RH. It was pretty comfy.

I voted for the first one because I think the modern style fits your room more than the other option, but I agree you should make sure they are comfortable. Also, make sure the antique bronze complements your island color which looks black and your pendant lighting.

My first thought was, I love your house! We looked at similar bar stools from RH, but to us they we not comfortable at all. Get what you like, but if it were me, I'd like to see a simple dark wood legged, rectangular or square, one .... with a cushion, leather, or wood seat. Also saw a cool round one at PB not too long ago. Have fun! Your house looks great!
