Need help with measuring for new cabinet doors

I'm changing out doors on face frame cabinets and increasing the overlay to 1 inch. How do I measure to accommodate for the space needed for the doors to close? Is there enough adjustment in the hinge and I just add the inch all around?

A lot depends on using the correct hinge. My first concern would be the clearance needed on the hinge edge of the door in order for it to open without contacting the face frame.

Clearly this is more complicated than Barker makes it sound on their tutorial. How do I determine the clearance needed on that side?

One run of 3 cabinets is my concern, each hinges to it's own stile and they all open the same direction. The stiles are each 2 in. If I understand correctly I will need 3/4 overlay hinge on these to allow for them to open and the gap will be 1/2. So I would add 1 1/2 inches total to the door size?

Depends on what hinge you are going to use.
But yes, add 1.5 to the opening for a .75" overlay, which will leave .5" between doors, which will probably work fine. No way to know until you spec a hinge.

Completely agree with guys! It seems simple enough but it takes time to make correct measure and choose the hinge. So what did you decide?
