Just wondering if anybody else is trialing this new, and highly touted by Burpee, variety? I am growing it alongside a 'Big Mama' which was my top paste variety in 2013 (and another newer Burpee introduction) where I counted around 90 fruit harvested on the one plant. So far looking at both side-by-side, the Big Mama is about one and a half times the size of the Supersauce, so vigor is lacking a bit on the new variety, and green fruit and flower clusters seem to be a tad behind as well. BUT....I harvested the first fruit from both over the weekend and well, here is the difference:
Supersauce fruit on right came in at 12 oz vs Big Mama at 6 oz, so double the size. Burpee was touting 2 lb fruit, so not quite meeting expectations, but still pretty remarkable for a paste type. I guess taste and meat/seeds will be next comparison.
