Imo, Danny will be pretty weak.

Here in Portland there is so much smoke from the forest fires that everything just absolutely stinks. I'm staying indoors today. It's so thick it's keeping the temps down. Can't wait for this to come to an end.

Well, it all depends from WHERE the rain is coming.

Here in New York if the rain comes from west or north - rarely (if ever) from east - the temperature drops up to 10' F. If the rain comes from south - which happens almost as much as from west / southwest, the temperature can drop 2-3 degrees, but in some case can rise up to 5 degrees. It's hot in Florida...

Yeah. Clorox spray ( 7 oz per gallon of water) Is said to be more effective on Grey Mold than your regular fungicides. I have not tried it yet.

Believe it or not, our September weather will arrive sooner.

I will have to do Missouri pruning soon (in couple of weeks). The new growth from now on won't have a chance to bud/flower and produce ripe fruits.

First I thought you're joking about Clorox, but looks like you're not.

Cold fronts can drastically change temps. They typically bring stormy weather due to the abrupt lifting and condensing of the warmer air in front of it.

One of the good things about being on the West coast is not to worry about storms , hurricane and tornadoes. . But then you rot here instead of getting old. hahaha

Erika will bring some rain to Florida. No biggie - fortunately.

Finally the rain came.

After nearly 3 months (June, July, August) we are gettin some rain the way we used to, here in PNW: Gentle rain , No flooding not much run off, all is sucked in by the thirsty ground.

This will continue for the next five days , on and off at 50% to 80% probability.

I watered my plants yesterday after 4 day. With this rain on the top, no more watering for the next 10 days, at least.

The sun will return on or about a week from now. That is typical PNW weather that we have been missing this summer.

But of course sooner or later, HEAVY rains will come.

Getting towards the end of the season here - even though highs are still around 90, the lows are creeping down into the low 40s. No rain in over two months. Despite fairly regular attention, the tomato plants are starting to look a bit... done. I've cut back on the watering and started pinching suckers and new flowers to encourage the plants to finish the fruit that's already set. In another couple of weeks I'll start pulling out some plants and prep the bed with compost to plant the garlic for next year.

Here in New York, nice, nice nice…

For those that aren't aware, Western Washington got hit by a very strong wind storm (higher winds than Erika) Saturday. At the peak, half a million in the Seattle area lost power. Mine was out for about 16 hours from noon to 3am sunday.

My garden doesn't agree but my perspective I'm glad we're probably done with 80+ weather this year.

There were 2 fatalities that were on the news but for the most part it mostly created a traffic nightmare. I was able to take the train down to Seattle for a soccer game yesterday during the cleanup without any problems and most areas have power back on now. We're used to getting strong wind storms in October or November but this one was particularly early and because of the prolonged drought and since the trees haven't lost their leaves yet, the trees were particularly vulnerable to high winds (the leaves act like sails and create drag forces on the tree).
