New to the forums, I earnestly browsed before posting so please bare with me.

I bought my fig probably 9 months ago last winter. Stayed pretty dormant throughout the winter from which I read is to be expected. This past April-ish, my fig started growing like crazy, and I would say, has grown over 2 feet in the past 3-4 months. It's grown so fast that the top leaves are so heavy and causing the main branch to sway. I like the height so I didn't prune it. I guess I was expecting the main trunk to thicken up before it grew so tall.

My question is, what should I do with my little lanky teenager. I just want to do what's necessary to keep my fig healthy and good looking. To give some more background, I've rotated the tree every couple of weeks, but the smaller off-shoot hasn't kept up with the main branch. If I shear off that off-shoot, can I repot it in an attempt to have it grow into a new plant? Open to any tips and advice.
