Awesome. Many health benefits from the apples.

JEALOUS here! Was just thinking of these!

Sounds like a success! let us know how do you like the fruits after you taste them.

Silvia

wow,,,10 years..talk about an abundance of patience...congratulations..

Jeremy - I'm a South Florida gardener, without patience it would all be a swimming pool.

I hear you..I've planted 8 fruit trees in the last couple of years, 3 pear, 3 apple an orange and a lemon..the apple trees are definitely a lot of work..I'm with you though, would rather have the trees over a pool any day..

i've got a couple of fruit trees that I'm waiting on for fruit...and it could be years. If I don't plant it now I'll never have one...of whatever I want. Keep up the water and fertilizer :-)

Happy for your success.

Nine years seems to be the standard. I also waited nine years for my Jaboticaba to bear fruit. My neighbor has an Avocado that's nine years old and is just now having it's first crop.

Congrats on successful fruiting. Let

us know they taste.

OK. I've never heard of velvet apple. What fruit can the flavor be compared to? Also since it has such a long time before fruiting can it be started in pots? I live in a townhome but am hopeful to buy a house with a yard next year. Would like to get a jump on some fruiting trees for my yard when I get one.

"The Velvet Apple or Mabolo is a medium in size with regularly grown in
evergreen forest and tree native to the Philippines. It produces a
beautiful velvety reddish orange fruits with all the size and shape of
an apple and covered with a velvet-like skin. The fruit have a pleasant
mildly sweet taste, similar to a peach fruits, but it have an odor that
is similar to a mild to strong cheese, that some people find unlikable."

I accept no responsibility for the grammatical errors.

LOL. Thanks! Guess I could've googled it. But hey, I love cheese too!!!

Joy B- Almost any fruit can be started in pots... peaches, avocados, lemons, limes (most oranges are grafted) plums, persimmon, pomegranate.... start planting those seeds!!!

Great! thanks ibarbidahl!!!
