I sometimes germinate seeds using the plastic baggie/enclosed container method with a damp paper towel. Often after a few days here I see little fuzzies/black dots growing on some of my seeds (pepper this time).

Is this harmless or am I wasting my time planting the ones that sprout? I get a lot of seedlings damping off and I just realized the mold/fungus that results from this method probably isn't helping.
