Staining Grout a Darker Color

Hello,

We recently grouted our new bathroom with Custom Platinum on our 1 inch hex olive (but a cool tone olive) hex bathroom floor. The platinum is a little light after drying and we are thinking of asking the contractor to stain it Oyster Grey which is a bit darker. Do the color ants/stains actually work? Will it make it worse or will it look like the Oyster Gray color? Is it a pain for the contractor to do thiis?

Oh you poor thing and your grout choice! Sorry you are disappointed.

I still think it looks good, and I like how the grout ties to the countertop color. I would suggest you finish the room and live with it for a little while before deciding. I have never used grout colorant, but I imagine it would not be enjoyable or efficient to apply it to those little hexagons.

I agree with kats. It's so hard to be disappointed, but I think it looks great. I'd live with it, too and see if, once you are used to looking at it, if you don't change your mind.

If you used cement based grout it will darken over time from use anyway.
