I like the idea of adding extra molding. How tall are the actual cabinets over the stove?

Hi Mickrome, It's not really a cabinet, it's just a custom box to hide the vent pipes and motor. I don't rememember the actual measurement. It was just done to clear the other cabinets moldings by a few inches. If you are using a kitchen designer they will proportion it to fit your peticular space. If you are doing it yourself...trust your instinct and use pictures like these as your guide and notice that the "trim" is really a door turned on it's side. Hope that helps! Jo

I have a 10 ft. tall kitchen and wanting to "copy" the look here. However, I am curious, why not just take the cabinets up to the top crown molding?
You could. It would take away from the little bit of space and also the angels of the cabinetry height. But it might be very lovely.

in my house, the ceiling are only 8 and I wonder if I should choose the color for the crown molding white the color of the ceiling or pecan sandie Bher paint the color of the wall?

Thank You French-Brown Floors, This kitchen is approximately 15 wide and 16 long. It's a big kitchen! I'm sorry, but the exact measurements you asked about are no longer available. All that matter's is the space that you have anyway! Your aisles need to be at least 42" wide and if you don't have that, you should reconsider the floor plan. Base cabinets come in standard sizes so you just have to have it drawn up by a pro and see what you can do with the space you have. Hope that helps! Good Luck with your project! I know this is an old post, but I just love this kitchen. Can you tell me the color of the floor?

It looks very much like English Walnut stain.

I love this kitchen. I'm remodeling my kitchen using these color schemes but looking at Uba Tuba Granite countertop. Wanted a darker color because of the white cabinets. Any input on the granite from the PROs would be appreciated.

Hi NJMill, Thank you for the compliment! We spend lots of time removing dark countertops these days. If you use a dark countertop you will no longer have this look. The success of this room is the lightness and lack of a strong contrast. That's why it has a smooth, up to date look. Using dark countertops in our opinion will date the space and make it look like you updated everything but your counters. If you do opt for a black countertop we recommend you opt for something with less green in it as Uba Tuba is known for its greenish hue. Good Luck with your project! Sincerely, Jo McKeown Davidson

Wow! I thought that Uba Tuba would have been nice being that it has not only the green but also the warm tone. My porcelain floor has the colors has strikes of cream brown, subdue green it it I have not bought it yet. Also, I would not want to go to a high level. I've used Santa Cecilia Light in my husband Man Cave bar, so i would not want to use it. I will check the Arctic cream (might be pricey). I'm in New Jersey. Any other recommendations in the white/cream family? Thank you for your advise.

Note: I wanted to send you a pic of the floor, but for some reasons, it will not upload.

Hi Nj, You may want to save the time if you like the Uba Tuba...if you think it looks good...that's what matters the most! :) It is in the realm of the most affordable granites. Any white granite will indeed cost more. Truth be told, in our region of the country, granite is becoming a thing of the past too! Quartz products (Man made) Quartzites (Mother Nature Made) and Marbles are heavily used in the South now. Before you decide look around in you area by going onto local designers Houzz/websites and look at their kitchen remodels. I say this to let you know that it's not always wise to be thrifty if you are putting something in your home that dates it when it is brand new. Best to you! Jo Davidson

Hi Jo! Your comments are well received. Luckily, I have not yet bought the countertop. I will definitely look into light colors that would go with my oil-rubbed bronzed fixtures, even if I have to pay a little more. Thank you for your input!

Hey Lauren, it's Sherwin Williams Tony Taupe. The light of the flash makes it look a little more Gold in the picture...I have told folks before that Benjamin Moore's Cumin is a close color to what it looks like in this pic. If you have more questions I know I have answered them...just scroll down to the bottom when you are looking at pictures and that's where the questions and answers are on all photos on Houzz. Have fun decorating! Jo
