We are looking to renovate the house in picture 1 to look like the house in pictures 2 or 3. In picture 2, the dormers symmetrically line up with the lower windows; however, they leave no natural light in the upstairs bathroom. In picture 3, the dormer is moved to provide a window in the bathroom (which I like) but now the dormers are asymmetrical. Should function or form rule here? (The lower windows can't be moved because of a load bearing wall between the den and foyer). Any suggestions on dormer placement or anything else here?
