Without seeing the barn wood, it looks OK, up against the barn wood might look different. Again without the barn wood hard to suggest a color, but most barn woods have gray and your floor is gray, gray would be a safe bet. If possible to stain the wood to keep the grain I would stain instead of painting.

Jamie, the first question you should be asking yourself is . . how long do I want to stay in this residence before selling?

Why? If you are going to sell within 1 - 2 years, then don't spend the money on a whole new vanity or anything else, just paint the bathroom. The space looks really good now, as is! Some paint suggestions below.

However, if you plan on staying in the home for a minimum of 5 - 6 years or longer, then go ahead and spend the money on what you like. If you'd really rather spend money elsewhere in your home, I would suggest just replacing the mirror, faucet, lighting, and just painting using suggestions below

I would paint the walls with a soft sage green add white towels and a new light fixture, leave the mirror and add a great piece of art to the large wall.

Thank you all so much. We plan on living there in the summer and renting as much as we can in the winter (ski resort area). We won't sell for at least 5 years. We do want it to be nice for us so I like the idea of painting and light fixture. I think sage green would be a very nice color.

For a more modern take on a "chalet" bathroom, I might stain the cabinet darker, paint the walls cream, change the mirror to a wooden framed one that matches the cabinet, change the lighting and faucet. Change the item on wall over the toilet, add cream towles and a basket on the floor with towels and a mat on the floor. A bit of work but not very expensive.

i think that switching to a framed mirror and adding some wall art is all you need. but a new faucet would have huge impact in here. this space looks fine as is, i'd spend your money elsewhere. ;)
