Gorgeous!!! Your countertops are stunning. I love the style of the glass cabinets. Your cabinets look like brand new custom cabinets - the apron toekicks, the base trim, the style of the island - was that all original or trim that you added?

The flowers on your island - Pottery Barn - I also have them on my island.

    Congrats. Your kitchen is beautiful.

    Back splash?

WOW. Truly gorgeous!! You have a great eye. Love how the pendant lights tie in with the glass cabs. Love everything really. (and I don't really love white kitchens usually) But, we need more pics, Maybe a bit bigger and in daylight?! I wanna seeeeeeee. ;) Please?

It's beautiful--congratulations on reaching the finish line and ending up with such a wonderful result. It would be fun to see the before since you painted and added trim rather than replacing cabinets.

Thank you all. Yes the apron toe kicks, base trim and any detail you see we added. I will post the before pics. It was bare bones builders cabinets. The island lights were on line. They are called the grosvenor one light downlight. Several websites have them. The backsplash is also Calcutta gold marble subway tile 3x6 with a basket weave above the hood and bullnose trim It was a little greyer than I expected. I ordered that online too for much cheaper than I got prices for around where we live. I do love it. It's very nerve wracking selecting all this stuff and wondering how it's all going to work. I'll add daylight pics and before pics.

Just perfect. Love how well all the elements work together.

That is like night and day difference! You moved the MW from over the cooktop too. Good call! Even though I love wood stained cabinets, I can see that your kitchen went from normal to elegant with all the details! Enjoy that beautiful space!

    Beautiful and very elegant!

    Such a transformation!

    gorgeous!! congratulations!

Those are the same cabinets? Masterful re-use/re-purpose. The X-windows with the X on the pendant lights is cohesive and stunning. Love the backplash and how it goes above the window. Wow!

That is simply amazing! You'd never know you didn't start from scratch!
I figured it was marble but wanted to make sure! I love it all, and I'm not a white kitchen person.

Yes all same cabinets. We changed the doors in the long one from plain glass to doors with X mullions and ordered new doors and glass for the cabinet that was above the cooktop/ microwave. We also cut down the cabinet to the left of the sink to make more room for the boxes up top and ordered new doors for that as well. The island is the same one just built out about an extra foot with added trim etc. The microwave took up the cabinet and we moved the drawer underneath (used to be above it) along with the fake drawer front from under the old sink (now the farmhouse sink). The company we used definitely did a great job of using what we had.

I am in shock at how you transformed those cabinets, especially the island. Wow, really stunning! Love how you did the X 's with glass cabinets and found the perfect lighting that have X's too!

I keep flipping back and forth between the photos. I really can't believe this is the same kitchen, let alone same cabinets! You did a great job, it is just beautiful. Details on the island add so much. Enjoy :)

Thank you nmh92. The microwave is now in the island- its a microwave drawer. You can see in the 2nd pic from the bottom as you scroll up on this thread.

wow! you were able to reuse your cabinets to create this new space? I am trying to do something similar, so you are my inspiration! Beautiful job! my favorite is the window wall and the lovely glass cabinets.

would you mind sharing the model of your faucet?

    last modified: 10 years ago

Thank you so much. Yes all the cabinets used were existing. The up and over door above the fridge was new but other than that all boxes were existing. The glass was new doors and mullions but the rest all old doors. Lots of trim, molding, toe kicks, detail added.

The faucet was Rohl Perrin and Rowe bridge mixer faucet with levers and sidespray and it was the 11inch reach spout (vs the 8 inch). Here's the link to the model number spec sheet http://rohlhome.com/pdf/889.pdf. I also got the Rohl soap dispenser to balance out the side spray on one side. They were all in polished nickel to coordinate with cabinet hardware and pendants.

Hope this helps and good luck.

I didn't notice & appreciate the detail in which you added fascia & molding to get your old 42" cabinets to your 9 foot ceiling. The cabinet end panels really complete the look.

Look at that island! You should be awarded a GW medal for such an amazing transformation of existing cabinets to custom cabinets.

What a gorgeous kitchen! (Your "before" kitchen looked pretty nice too) I love the fact that you were able to renew your old cabinets into something totally new and beautiful. It's always nice to see a kitchen like that, seems such a waste to have good cabinets end up in a landfill when they can be transformed like yours.

    Dear Kpcogs,

I love it!! I would like to ask a favor....which white did you pick for the cabinets? It looks absolutely stunning with the marble!

Apologizing now if you said and I missed it. Love that you were so green. Excellent savings in materials and money.

Hi Heather no problem and thank you! The color is Benjamin Moore vanilla milkshake. It's definitely white but not too white with a warm creamy undertone but not too creamy

These pics were professionally taken by kitchen company

Somehow I missed your reveal. This is the absolute best transformation using existing cabinets that I've ever seen. I would NEVER know that these were not new. All the detail you added is just phenomenal. I love your glass doors especially the way you did the hood, counters, floors, pendants. Beautiful!

where did you get the pulls and what sizes are they?

I ordered them online. They are Atlas Homeware's Sutton Place collection in polished nickel. They are all different sizes. Glass cabinets have rectangular knobs and all other pulls are either 6", 8.5" or 12" depending upon what cabinet they were on. I ordered two of each pull as samples and planned it out to see what size worked the best on each cabinet

Gorgeous! Is that a Whitehaven Undermount Cast Iron sink? 33"? How do you like using that sink? It seems less deep than others which can be a positive thing especially for someone short like me.

Hi thank you and yes it is a Kohler Whitehaven. It's 36 inches wide and 6 inch apron front (vs regular 9). We didn't want to cut into the existing cabinet underneath so went with smaller apron and now are so glad we did. A couple of friends mentioned their 9 inch was too deep. They feel like they are stooping over too much. Both my husband and I are relatively tall and we don't feel like that at all. It's a great width and we are very happy with it. Would definitely recommend the protective grates in the bottom too.
