What is the difference in height between the 2 counter tops?

I like the counter to be all one height I think a raised bar area is dated and I think cuts into workable counter space but these are 2 ways to do it

Every bar we design we use 36" for the working counter and 42" for the bar counter, leaves you with a nice 6" backsplash on the working side of the counter.

4' is way too high, especially if someone had a few to many, it will be long way down and it will be a hard landing LOL

Tricky. I'm doing this myself for a breakfast area rather than a bar. The concept is similar to the 2nd picture posted by Patricia Colwell, however while the lower counter top is in white quartz the breakfast area counter is in glass. Perhaps it could be an idea for you as well.

I find that it pays to rather than hide these quirks you actually draw attention to them and making them part of the design. It will take a while before mine is ready otherwise I'd post pictures of it to give you an idea

Found a picture online of a very similar concept. My colours are wallnut and glossy white and my breakfast area does not go round the whole curve but the idea is the same. Doesn't look dated at all like this does it :)
