In the dark of winter I ordered a bunch of bulbs and plants to help keep the UPS man employed. Well, you know how the usual offer goes;over $50 or whatever, you get a free gift. No surprise, the free gift was 3 Asian lilies. The minute I read the label on the free package, the image of that bright red beetle devouring my outside lilies flashed across my mind. The only way to protect them was to imprison the bulbs. So all 3 bulbs went into a pot which was keep on my porch. In one month, they grew 38" tall. This morning, the mystery of their color was solved. Bloom #1.
