Good grief, I'm not a hostaphile, but I wouldn't mind any of those gracing my garden. I've only just (three years now) moved where hostas don't slowly fade away. They don't thrive like these, but they do survive and slowly bulk up. The humid dry summers here are rather hard on these beauties.

Does your family get involved with your love of hosta too? Seems to me you have twins , if I recall right? . Oh, and yes I do have a few acres for your hosta but thinking there would be way too much sun and not enough shade for them to do well

that sno globe, looks like a polyploid. How thick are those leaves? I have seen pics of one looked similar but was blue not green and was thin leaved. that one looks like a real winner..the yellow as well.

Faye, none of my four girls or wife appreciate this hobby. They think I'm a bit nuts for it, if truth be told :) But that's okay, they have their things and I have mine :)

Mike 'Sno Globe' has thick leaves, but still within the normal range for a dip. Anything is possible since it was O.P. but my guess is that it is a normal 2-2-2 diploid.

WOW all 3 of those def look like keepers. I never get any this so much solid section in it. mine always seem to be more pin stripe type streaks. those are wonderful.

The bird's are trying to do their part for helping the good prospects with their organic fertilizer. They are trying to encourage growth but their aiming is inaccurate. ;)

like how the back of the leaf closes up like that and overlaps another nice one.

That last one is exquisite! So many beautiful hostas, I started to just "like" the ones I would buy, but who am I kidding? I would buy anyone of these! I am so glad you have the temperament and talent together that produces these absolutely stunning hostas! Thanks!

Stop it, PLEASE! I might go out and dig up my whole hosta collection and throw it on the compost pile.

After having seen not only those pictures but more posted on FB, I'm very sad that I can not get some of those beautiful plants :-( I hope that Skywriter will cross the Atlantic one day...

Your hosta's are all AMAZING but the thoughts of how you cross pollinate and then grow all those seedlings boggles the mind. Is there a post here that tells how you pollinate and grow your seedlings?

I have many seed pods this year thanks to the bees and the humming birds and want to try to help more than a few volunteers germinate.

Stop it, but don't stop it... I love it... but in the same sentiment of what Dick_in_Ohio posted, your gorgeous seedlings now makes me giggle at my hostas that I have fawned over.

Dan, your work is inspiring- seedlings and hybridization is so interesting - but I first have to get what I have to thrive. lol Thank you for sharing these enviable beauties.

Wow so beautiful I exp love the blue with purple lav flowers! I want one lol. The other fav of mine is the very first picture...reminds me of that song wild thing you make my heart sing haha...to beautiful!!!

Dan, all of the original comments, descriptors, compliments and praise I concur with. Like everyone else, I am drooling over these seedlings.

what I want to add is this: Van Gogh, Renoir, Picasso—-they created such beauty with paint, using oil or water colors they created. They have been called Masters.

However, you have created such beauty using Mother Nature who is not always cooperative. I say you are a Master to the same degree or perhaps even more so.

I could not possibly pick a favorite for each had it’s own colors, leaf shape and size, corrugation, streaking, waviness...... I would be thrilled to add any one of these to my collection.

I have one question——what does OP refer to? Your original pollinator?

Wow, am glad to see old post resurfaced with magnificent pictures. This was the post I decided for myself to collect every Dan's hosta that made it thru TC. Out of very first set of pictures of this post Skywriter, Effervesce and Hotshot made it.

Peppermint twist picture is in the middle post. So looking forward to seeing it growing.

Those of us that were at winter scientific meeting got to meet Dan in person and I am growing 8 seedlings that grew out of his Vision Quest seeds... Most of them have no streaking and couple are quite vigorous.

I noticed one of the hostas in this thread, called "Hotshot" is featured on page 18 of the most recent hosta journal.

I just found this thread. Oh. My. Goodness. Does dan still post?

Hotshot is a standout even in juvenile stage, got it this spring. Thinking how much advances has been made in hosta breeding...

I love my Skywriter front and center. Its the parent of one of my favorite seedlings too (not pictured.)

It took me a while to figure out how to enter through Garden Web. I hope Dan returns. I don't like facebook and rarely go there. Conversations are too cut up and hard to keep going.

Agree about Facebook. I go regularly to see pictures of the Grands but there is no conversation there.

What about garden.org?

There is plenty of conversation on FB. There are at least a dozen different FB pages on the topic of hostas.

Dan, I finally figures out if you post one picture at a time, and then you can add another and one . I think you may be able to post as many as 10. Also can add descriptions of each picture as you go. Glad to see you are back, You have so many interesting seedlings that are extra special. I still like the old site much better too. Hosta site seems to be the most active one so quit even going to any others
