Hello,

Does the granite have any white in it? Can you post a close up?

Thanks, Jen

You would have to paint your walls too if you add white cabinets. Just a thought. I don't think your wall color would look great with white cabinets. You see how these remodels snowball?!

I think your kitchen looks nice. I wouldn't change it to white, but that's just me.

I'd probably paint your walls before I'd paint those nice cabinets. I don't think the yellow works well with the wood. Not enough contrast.

I second painting the walls and leaving the cabinets as they are.

Another inspiration photo.

I would paint the walls and window shutter white instead.

I just did mine after years of thinking about it, and I am very pleased with the outcome. Go for it! I used Find a Pro on Houzz to find The Cabinet Finishers....they specialize in cabinets and use the same techniques and products as cabinet manufacturers. Definitely find a specialist in your area vs. just a painter. I have a before and after thread if you want to check out details. Here are two pics.

Mark presented in pictures what I clumsily said. I love the contrast in his mock ups . The cabinets look so much nicer with that.

I would paint the cabinets and shutters White or Cream depending on granite color and a Light Gray island (match granite ) and change wall color.

I love white cabinets and would ordinarily say paint away but with kids you might be better off to keep the wood for a while longer.

One thing you might try before the plunge is to paint the shutters white and paint the kitchen walls another color. A light sage green is a fairly neutral color that would go with the granite.

Your floors and cabinets look great together.

Pay attention to how the shutters will look from the outside of the house if they're white vs brown. Are there other shutters throughout the house? They probably need to stay consistent. Or you could remove them in the kitchen.

Ha, just read other comments to paint the walls--here's a pic of sage green walls.

Look at the photo that Mark provided. The detail of the white vases above the cabinets. You have some wonderful height in your kitchen that you are not utilizing. If you are keeping the shutters brown incorporate that color with some baskets, etc in different heights for the top of the cabinets. The reason is: it will add visual interest since your cabinets are a straight run across.
You could also paint the island in a green color (or your choice) and the walls in a lighter shade.
Hope this helps.

Thanks to everyone that commented - such great suggestions/thoughts/ideas. I've never used the "design dilemma" feature - so glad I did :) When Jen from Park Place Designs asked me if I have white in my granite (no, I don't Jen) - I realized that besides my backsplash, I have no white. I am though, going to paint the walls white because I can "always" easily change that.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Have a great day all!

great decision - always easier (and much cheaper!) to paint the walls than the cabinets. :)

White is so overdone! Yours are much prettier! change the color of your wall and shutter! Good luck.

Keep the cabinets as is and add larger hardware. Paint the walls and remove that shutter. Replace it with a beautiful fabric treatment.

I love Mark's color idea!
