A pale watery blue

I'd remove or paint the wooden chair rail and paint the wall all one color, perhaps a pale gray or blue, but with your white fixtures you could go any direction, including a sunny yellow. Leave the wooden shelves, I think, until you get used to the other changes, but if they seem to be contributing to the cottage feel you could paint them a stainless silvery color, which would be a lot more mod! :)

What color are the floor tiles? I would def paint all the wood. Plain white shower curtain.

The tiles are a greyish brown... And the plain white shower curtain is up. :)
