Juniper, maybe J. x media if it's a shrub.

Thank you Embothrium. It is a globe-shaped shrub, different from all of our other junipers but I believe that you're correct. Really appreciate you taking the time to respond.

Pfitzer junipers and other shrubby types are much planted. If you just the bought the place then maybe the globe shape is the result of shearing, otherwise it should help narrow down what it is considerably. Maybe try looking at independent garden centers or display gardens in the area to see if any have the same kind at this time, with a label.

unfortunately.. cedar is a common name for some junipers ... as well as the unrelated cedars ...

they are both conifers .. there is a conifer forum.. but embo probably knows the common garden stock better than most ..

a pic of the whole would really help ... as in both families.. there are juvenile leaf forms.. that can confuse ID ...

when you take the leap.. from using common words like shrubs for conifers .. and using latin instead of common names ... a whole new world will open ... trust me on that.. i fought that fight for decades .... lol ...
