I know i just joined, I have alot of questions.. So roses in the hampton roads/tidewater area.. I have a couple "wild" roses i planted.. they are doing quiet well (looks over shoulder nervously).. I got 5 english tea (hybrids)? from gurneys on sale.. while a couple of the words might scare people, i would really appreciate anybody with rose experience in this odd zone/soil to talk with. two are doing good, one is struggling and the last 2 just threw in the cards after 10 days in the ground. I planted in a morning to early afternoon sun area, well drained soil, tried to minimize clay compaction with straw, used light Alaska fertilizer (not sure on soil quality), 6.8 soil PH.. I would like to get a long term rose bed, but with a 50% (ish) failure.. can we start with the basics for this area and go from there?
