The tv console seems awfully low, would the other piece of furniture in foreground look better there? Have you tried the sofa facing the window then re-arranging the two chairs.

Put the legs of the sofa on the carpet.

I think you need to bring the pieces in a bit. The couch should face the window or the tv. Maybe even use the larger wooden piece as a sofa table for the larger couch. Looks like you have some other chairs you could pull in as well.

From what I can see right now sofa needs to be moved to face FP and TV. Love seat in window where sofa is now. Keep table in back of loveseat where it is. Bring furniture in and position rug so front legs of all furniture are on rug. Can you lower TV? If not you need a taller and wider console under it. End tables at each of sofa.

Get new table lamp or at least new shade for it. Do you need use that fan in middle of room, I suggest a new chandelier.

Lower the print over the mantle or whatever it is. Get an ottoman for the middle of the furniture arrangement and maybe bring in some color with it. And add a couple more red pillows. And put some red candles or glass vase on mantle.

That ottoman in front of loveseat has lost it's love.

I would try getting a lighter rug and be sure at least the front legs are on it.

I would do drapes to the ceiling over all windows.

Get some accessories for the end tables.

Possibly rearrange furniture per the suggestions above.

I agree about putting that 3 drawer chest you have behind the sofa under the TV. Then remove every single black metal accessory you have in the room and replace it with more up to date items. Gone are the paid pillows! Get some fun ones. Don't be lazy- post pics!
