fireplace makeover

Do you have any suggestions as to where we can find heat-resistant primer and paint for the "brick" area (it is actually cement with marble chips). There is currently a wood-pellet fireplace but we may change this to a traditional fireplace in the future.

You shouldn't need a heat resistant paint on the on the concrete area. Your black surround is your heat barrier. If in the future you change to a wood burning fireplace, you can use tile where the black surround is now for a heat barrier. You might consider a gas insert in place of the pellet stove if you're looking for a more heat efficient option though.
