Oh. Looks like an A. Somalenese. After a few years it should slow it's vertical growth and thicken the trunk. Probably no need to trim it, unless you want to encourage more branching. As it is, it's a beautiful plant.

Wow. That's much older than I'd expect. I'd not prune it. Maybe someone else can also offer an opinion.

Laurie, I'm with Dain on not doing a lot of pruning. Looks to have a very strong base structure and looks as though it can carry weight of blooms. You could prune the small lateral branches at the top to encourage more blooms when it flowers.
