Thanks for your question. It is possible to construct a Corradi structure around a fireplace as long as the fireplace is well insulated to prevent heat from damaging the structure. In such an instance, should you want a retractable roof, I would recommend that you rather use our 'Corradi Sequence' retractable system. Alternatively, if it is heating you need in winter, you can make use of the Corradi Heating System, which consists of a thin, heated film that can be fitted behind a false ceiling in the retractable roof system, or under the wooden deck of a patio.
