Yup. It was terrible here. First to get disease and there was no controlling it. It seems to have no self-defense capabilities (ie leaf drop) in fact it was difficult to remove leaves and limbs by hand even. Will never grow it again.

Thank you for your input on these, it was a variety that I was considering for next year. There are so many "black" varieties that are very similar-Black Krim, Cherokee Purple, Paul Robeson, ect. that look exactly the same and really don't have that much different taste. I have had great success with Black Krim & Cherokee Purple and will probably stick to them.

I had the same issue with my Amazon Purple's this year. They were one of the first ones to produce and had fairly good yields on the bottom tier, but no foliage on the bottom and the top doesn't seem to developing more tomatoes. The CP, planted next to it are flourishing.

I grew black prince last year because they had it at the local big box and I wanted a black (after I killed most of my seedlings by accident). The tomatoes were good, but there weren't that many and the plant did have issues. Went back to black krim this year. It's given me nine blushing tomatoes so far with many more still on the vine.

I learned from others experience and did NOT grow BP.

HD was selling the plants. I almost bought it but then did a searched on it and decided not to grow one.

BTW, there is a similar review on BP in another message board and most have written negative reviews.

Umm, pretty sure that was also posted by Fireduck ;) I was surprised to see how many posters here also post there. I like it. It's like meeting up with old friends while making new ones.
