Is the microwave built in?

Love this kitchen great use of counter top material. In the photo it looks like the microwave is built right into the wall? We are looking for a creative way to deal with our microwave as we have a very small kitchen and I don't want it above the stove.

I agree, love the built-in microwave--it's genius! Microwaves above a stove just don't seem safe to me. This is out of the way with plenty of counter space in front for cooking with the microwave!

I'm delighted to hear other people find microwaves unsafe above the stove.
Jane, I wish I could see a close-up of the microwave built-in and the surrounding area. I can't wrap my mind around how deep the wall must be to surround the microwave as it appears.

Sorry, I don't have a close up of this.
This is a Space Safer microwave, only 12"d and
this was an exterior wall that was already
12" deep to accommodate the depth
of microwave. Good luck!

Thank you, Jane. That makes sense. Here in DC we don't have thick walls like that.
