Potting crowns?

Though I know there's been posts about this, I was unable to find any using the search engine, so please forgive the repeat!

Today I received a box of AVs that I'd won on Ebay. The wonderful seller sent along six bags of extra leaves-gifts-as well!
Question is-two of the baggies contained leaves on crowns. I put the crowns, leaves and all, into the same mix I use for the leaves. Actually I roughed the bottoms of the crowns very gently first.

Is this right? Or should I grab what leaves I can and plant them instead?

You should have no problem restarting a crown - or perhaps what was sent to you was a sucker? Either way, it should root just fine. I'd keep it in a closed container for a bit, just to make sure it stays hydrated, like a domed tray or a bag. Otherwise you should see it take off and grow pretty quickly. Nice bonus from the vendor!

Cool, thanks! They're all in a domed tray1 At worst I figured it would be a great experiment! Good to know it may actually work! :-)

As Anne said, restarting a crown is not a big deal. Although I would hedge my bet and at least (if the plant can spare it) start 2 leaves (just in case one dies.). One leaf for sure. Good for you! Everyone loves extras!!! Rosie

They both look good so far! One just doesn't have the leaves to spare-but the other I may grab a couple-at the time, I'd completely run out of little cups to use!
