What varieties look like this?

Leaf density and coverage is mostly related to culture rather than to specific varieties. This would include adequate water and nutrition plus (possibly) pinching and pruning to encourage density. With many 100's, possibly 1000's of varieties of evergreen azaleas, identification by color alone is impossible.

Would need a pic of the flowers and the bloom time. Even then, it would probably only narrow it down to scores of varieties.

Could it be a rhododendron? I have 2 dense purple gem rhododendrons (in zone 5) that people often assume are azaleas, because their leaves are small. They'll grow to about 2 ft.
