Oh my, what a fantastic job. Your work is immaculate. I've been buying about 20 edge pavers from HD every time I make it out to the city. I've been slowly stocking them up, hoping to to find the time some day to line my beds with pavers inspired by the pristine Dave standard of garden experience.

    Bravo!

What's the Ginkgo to the left?

Is that a fireglow JM on the right?

It just keeps on getting better and better!

The Ginkgo I have no idea. No tag close out sale. I thought it was kind of unique. I have posted it on several sources but nobody knew what it was. I will post it here again. The Acer p. is ' Bloodgood'.

A few more. Did some redesign also in the top photo.

Inspiring! Your 'Bloodgood' makes everything in the garden shine, somehow. I like your pagoda too. Heck, I like everything! Is the fat yellow conifer in the last picture Picea abies 'Perry's Gold'? If so, I need to move mine before it is too late.

Canyon Spring. It is 'Perry's Gold'. I don't know of a larger one. This one close to 15 years old and I am not sure you could use it as a standard to go by for growth characteristics. Part of the redesign was adjusted to accommodate this cultivar because the 10 year growth given when planted was certainly not true. I did notice last year that the top side of the branches do not fade back to green now. This year even more so. There is about a 50/50 mix on green/yellow. Good luck with yours.

Youve out done yourself this time Dave! Your gardens and taste for design are second to none! What a beautiful display...Many Kudos

    WOW

Really Nice work! That Cornus kousa 'Summer Gold' is exceptional. How long does it hold that color? I was planning on getting an Acer palmatum 'Summer Gold', but that dogwood is quite impressive.

Thanks sc. The Dogwood is actually Cornus flordia 'Cherokee Sunset' and it keeps that color from leaf out till leaf drop.

It leaves me wanting more pics. what a beautiful job yo have done.

Everything about your yard is beautiful. I have been buying various conifers and am in the process of creating the beds for them. In reading posts on this forum it seems like most people use wood mulch for their conifers. I see you use rock and am wondering if you see any advantages or disadvantages? I was thinking of gravel as it would not have to be replaced like mulch plus I am going for a Japanese style look but it also does not help the soil so I am torn. Any advice would be appreciated.

For me the pea & pond gravel ties and blends the all colors in the islands.. A better balanced look also then the starkness of wood chip flatland. Not saying the wood chip is not an acceptable look. It is but not for me. The Japanese style garden is a look that is very beautiful.. Done in detail and correctness second to none. It can take years to create it. If you have the time and know how go for it. A choice for you to make.

Is the dogwood right next to deck in second photo? Everything is spot on....art.

Marie...not sure if your asking a question or stating a fact. It is, Cornus flordia 'Cherokee Sunset'.

I think I will probably go with gravel and may use a small amount of mulch in some of the smaller beds. I saw a Japanese garden that combined the two to beautiful effect. Would love to see some current pictures of your garden Dave.

It is garden pictures like these that started me down the path to conifer addiction. Your garden is amazingly beautiful.

Davesconifers; what is the conifer that is on the left, in front of "Perry's Gold"? Referencing your first pic that shows it. I love the coloration and contrast it creates amongst the blue, greens, and gold. Just gorgeously laid out to view as a whole and individual specimen. Cheers,

Are you talking about the Picea pungens "Neimetz'. or Thuja occidentalis 'Jantar'?

It's directly in front of "Perry's Gold"; not the Picea pugen "Neimetz", it has a purplish or bronze coloration to it -- full, dense, with a pyramidal shape. I'm sorry; I should have clarified more with descript., behind the "Picea pugen "Neimetz". Thank you. Cheers,

Then it has to be Pinus sylvestris 'Piskowitz'.

Thank you davesconifers; what a beauty, it really sets off this island bed -- like the Pinus t. 'Okinakabau' does in your other photo of the other island bed. I love them both; you have a great eye to place such dramatic specimen, it gives a wonderful architectural feature too. Cheers,

davesconifers; you just introduced me to another rare gem (Pinus sylvestris "Piskowitz") that I would like for my garden, did numerous search for more information (i.e.: growth habit, is it a dwarf or intermediate, etc.) --- found nothing but what I had describe to you go get the name. So it's going on my list of Clement's rare gem (Picea abies "Haga"); let alone how to acquire one, at least glaciers_end help with Picea abies "Haga" is at Iseli's which I sent a message to my contact. Any information about it that you can share regarding your gem Pinus sylvestris "Piskowitz" would be appreciate, and where I could get one. Thank you. Cheers,

Dave DeWire in Kingston has a good sized specimen of 'Piskowitz.' It's now grafting season, so if he doesn't have any babies currently on hand, I'm quite confident he can make one for you. He's a real nice guy.

Something about this cultivar, it absolutely must be pruned to maintain an aesthetic shape. If not, it can become an absolute horror.

glaciers_end; thank you as always for your knowledge and information, funny thou -- I just made his acquaintance and friendship about three years ago, thru the owner of Dragonfly Nursery. We have been corresponding off and on since then; I try not to bug him during this busy time of year for him. I should have thought of him. Thank you Dave; you made my New Year, and you're right about him being a really nice guy. Took time to educate me allot after we were introduced and exchange contact information. Cheers,

I have yet to make it up to his place in Kingston; he sent an open invite, and the best directions to his place. I have to make the time this year to do so; thank you also for the reminder glaciers_end, I want to see his specimen size "Green Knight" and "Green Prince" too. Cheers, p.s.: You also reminded me to remind Bill Hibler to order some from him to stock West Seattle Nursery.

There is no 'Green Knight,' only 'Green Prince.' The confusion comes from the fact that both are cultivar names of plants found at Wells Nursery in Mt. Vernon. 'Green Prince' is a Cedrus libani cv and 'Green Knight' is a Picea orientalis. Somebody got really mixed up years ago and to this day, it's a bit of a mess in the trade.

Thank you glaciers_end for some educated clarification; I try to go to Wells Nursery in Mt. Vernon, after your comments. Found firewall block; not sure if it's on my end, my IT/IS husband keeps our network protected. Good to know and will keep this info. to past on to other Conifer Addicts. Cheers,
