Most sites list a general "leaf spot" disease where spots appear and slowly merge. Most suggest simply removing the affected leaves. If you live in the United States you could take a sample to your state universities Cooperative Extension Office for identification and suggested methods of control.

are both of these garden plants.. being grown indoors ... if so ... your entire collection of plants ... might need to be gotten rid of ... instead of treated in doors ...

do keep in mind.. a solution to this issue.. might end up costing more than the value of the plants.. and in that case.. sometimes its better to just dump them all ... sterilize the situation [new media.. scrub pots, etc] and start over.. rather than try to cure such a problem ...

if i am correct.. this is one of the problems with trying to grow garden plants as houseplants

I'm sorry I didn't post any new photos, but I found one method which I am using now and will post it if it will work.

it is in no way a threat to your physical health ...

though it might be to your mental health .. lol .. and getting rid of them solves that ...

both of these plants are full sunshine plants .. as compared to houseplants ...

once you significantly move them away from full sun ... they do not thrive like they would outside ... and once you cut vigor.. all kinds of things can attack them ...

why do you not care to discuss your plan with how you are going to deal with this ???

Because there is no use to do it if it is not working!

I can either try and if it works - tell others, and if id don't, I am not wasting your time and just get rid of everything.

Kristine, I'll be curious about your technique for getting rid of thrips. The infestation looks pretty serious on the basil, from what I can see.

What I should mention is: my plants were totally healthy before. My neighbour gave me a little basil plant and the thrips with it. (I know this because all of her plants died because of thrips, she didn't do anything).
