Need help with kitchen backsplash and room color

We are in the process of renovating our kitchen. Our granite was just installed and we are having a difficult time coming up with a back splash that compliments, yet doesn't take away from the granite. Also possible wall paint colors that would compliment all. Thanks for any help!

    keep your backsplash plain...you have a busy granite and you want that to be the focus. Maybe a plain off white subway tile???
