I'm going to copy this for our wall which is 178 inches. But how big would you make the fireplace stone surround considering we are using an electric fireplace that is 28 inches wide and 22 inches high.

Do you mean how tall or how wide for the stone surround? I'm a fan of running the stone all the way to the ceiling to really showcase the texture and anchor the fireplace. You'd want to choose a stone that complements the size of your fireplace (not too big or small in relation). And my rule of thumb for the side borders is minimum 25% of the fireplace width: so at 28" wide, that's a min of 7" of stone on each side.

We are in the process of building it. The woodwork is all done and the stone goes on tomorrow. What did you do for the sides of the stone over the fireplace? It looks unfinished in the man made stone we bought. But its only an inch revel so perhaps nothing?

Also our TV is 60 inches and for our wall that takes up mostly all of the space in that right side. Should I buy a 50 inch TV? How do you think a large TV would look there?
