Outdoor caladiums are turning white

last modified: 11 years ago

I have about 50 caladiums in one outdoor garden, and I noticed today that 3 or 4 have turned white (or perhaps very very light yellow/green?) and drooped down to the ground. What's going on?? I had caladiums in my yard as a kid but this is my first year growing them on my own. All the others seem to look beautiful still. They're in a bed that gets some late afternoon sun but that's really it. Any thoughts on what this might be and how to address whatever's going on? Seems way too early for them to be going to sleep for the season. Thank you!!

Posting some pictures in case it's helpful.

#1: The three victims

#2: a better view (see the other ones look good still!)

#3: more context

#4: I noticed this guy as I was about to leave. Is this the beginning of another hospice case? :(
