Brown leave at the bottom are expired and plant is just aborting them in order to conserve energy and moisture. No mater what they won't get green again. So I would go ahead an trim those.

Can you post a picture of the whole plant ?. You can do that directly from your computer (picture folder), by clicking the camera icon at the bottom of window where you are typing.

Sey, believe it or not I don't have a camera any more. Didn't replace it after my husband passed away, so I am out of luck. I'll just have to accept what the plant puts out this year. Our weather as not been too good. First too cool, then too much rain, now too hot. Thanks anyway for your comments. Of course, the weeds are growing. Barb
