When peppers turn red....

In the past, in my garden, which has become a habitat for many animals (raccoons, skunks, opossums, chipmunks, squirrels of course, innumerable birds and insects), it seemed these animals would lie waiting and as soon as some fruit turned red (cherries, raspberries, figs, blackberries...) they would just pounce on them and eat them. The tomatoes where not so troubled, I think.

Do you have such problems when peppers turning red? I certainly want to have ripe peppers. And some of the peppers I am growing are sweet peppers. Or are peppers not so attractive to these animals?

I am wondering what to expect. And how I could go about ripening my peppers.

Thank you!

K.
