You could paint them white or grey and see how it looks. Otherwise, replace. Are they still in good shape? Also, replace the hardware.

I was thinking about painting them but wouldn't the lines in them still make them look dated?

Jessica, if you paint them you will still see the lines, but it will be better than what it is now. I assume this is a cottage'y type home. Painting them white or grey will still have a cottage'y feel. If you want new and modern look, then replace.

Also do some research on Ellsworth door style. It you were to possibly frame them and leave the "bead board" type cabinet. I think it would look really cute.

I say paint them an off-white, and see how you like them. You can always buy new doors and reface later, if you desire. Those handles are also latches, and are very expensive to replace. I like the classic look of them. Don't forget to use a sealer/ blocker, I have the feeling that pine will bleed through like crazy.

do you like a casual, cottage style? They would look lovely painted. and you could even remove the door off one or two for some open shelving.

If you softy wash and sand down the cabinets and add some high definition painting the cabinets will be looking as good as new. maybe add a crystal grib to give the kitchen a modern but still classic update.
