Jane Magnolia scale?

last modified: 11 years ago

Hi, I just planted this tree 2 months ago and it seems to be

growing good. However I noticed the leaves are not as green as it was and some of them are with brown spots. I had noticed Beatles here and there and now my little tree has a lot of white spots which I believe to be a scale infestation. I already know I should apply Horticulture oil. What I would like to know is are the leaves with brown spots because of scale or that is another type of infestation?

I heard Magnolias like acid soil and I have a alkaline soil. If I apply anything to make the soil more acid would that help my tree develop better?
