I'm thinking in terms of carrots and pole beans.

I did this one year in a raised planter bed, pole beans on netting at the back of the planter, a row of carrots about 20" in front had good crops from both.

How much space do you have, 12 to 16"? nothing ventured nothing gained :).

I planted beans within 4 inches of my tomatoes... got both tomatoes and beans from the same space. I also put beets among broccoli raab and peas. For most plants, just keep in mind that there will be a little competition, and you may get a little less of both (or less size), but it's not usually a serious problem.

The only thing I can think is that carrots are a root crop. While, in contrast, the beets I planted are fairly hardy rootcrops, some carrots may not appreciate other roots. I would expect those ball shaped carrots not to have trouble with neighboring roots, but I really don't know about regular carrots. I say try it and you'll know.
