Looks like what is sold as 'Pistachio' on this side of the pond :-) I find the best coloring on this cultivar develops in a fair amount of sun - more of the hot pink with just chartreuse edges. Mine looks pretty stunning at the moment. And the flowers seem to hold both color and "freshness" for a very long time......much longer than most other mopheads I have grown.

Hi gardengal, that may be why this one is so dull. We are having a rotten summer here in UK, one day of sun and 5 days of rain . Hopefully it might brighten up

kind regards

I think it is lovely! Love the green and pink!

Picked up a Pistachio earlier this year. Been wanting this one for a while.

From my experience, this plant's blooms may be more colorful the more sun it gets. So plants bought this year might have been intentionally shaded a bit at the nursery.

Averil... I think your plant is beautiful!!! And hcmcdole... Yours is also beautiful.
I hope the distressed Pistachio I just bought turns out even half that lovely!
I'd be very pleased!

Ditto, very nice indeed.

I just put in three of these in front of a row of Little Limes. I love them and they have settled in really well. They have been in the ground in full sun and are showing no signs of transplant distress other than the first day. These are just Fun to watch. :)

I have always wondered how the wholesaler or whomever developed blooms like that! Probably a trade secret.

Are you sure these pics are correct or the plant labels were correct? I thought Shamrock was a lacecap... :o(

garyz..beautiful pics!!..I'm sooo jealous of your hydrangeas..my climate is uncooperative for macrophyllas sigh..I hope you post lots of garden pics..

I moved away to WI and MN for 20 years total and so glad to be back home in PNW climate. So paid my dues.

I'm in the dreaming and thinking stages of moving..we're retired and could move but it's a big decision..

There are possibly two different Shamrocks out there. The Japanese one is a link lacecap. This small mophead is supposed to go completely deep green and stay there what seems like forever, until it fades for late fall winter. This is definitely not Pistachio, but breeding looks similar.

If you are considering PNW prices are going up rapidly near Seattle area. Get oit here on the fringe ASAP. Currently hard to find a better money investment.

Des Moines and Federal Way are nice. Covington can be nice and a good price.
