It's probably just stress from the whole ordeal. I'd monitor your water for ammonia spikes and Such carefully as the tank is uncycled.

You could have and can just can fill it up with tap water. Fill a large jug or container and add your water conditioner then stir it around then add it to the tank. There's no need to buy preconditioned water if you have tap water and conditioner. Your basically just

buying something you already have

I had to buy the entire tank set up!!! I was so freaked out by suddenly having a beta with no tank (knowing he cannot go in with my existing beta!!!). I just rushed and did what I could. Apparently, people I know think you can put a Betta in a vase and I don't agree at all! I live 10 minutes from a Petsmart so I was able to pull it off. I just checked on him and he was in a different part of the tank swimming, he saw me and started going to the surface and looked like releasing bubbles out of mouth in a fun way. Then He nestled in again on a leaf and seemed to be sleeping. I just feel bad about all the different water types I used- I just did t have enough of the bottled one. I will heed your advice and just condition tap water in the future!

My other Betta you gave me so much advise on is doing well. I'm glad I got into this- they are amazing!!

i plan on doing 25% water changes once a week on both tanks with conditioned water.

Yeah, lots of people keep them in weird setups. They never last long though for obvious reasons.

There shouldn't be any downside in you using the different waters except maybe the pH differences. Though, they all probably leveled oit once they were put ttogether. I was just saying you can save time and money if you just condition the tap water .

You might want to join a betta forum or another site dedicated to fish care. This part of gardenweb is rather dead and you don't always get the best advice.

Thanks! I think I've got the basics down. I appreciate your help. I going to try to work on not being so worried about these guys- I'm sure you can fiddle too much with their environment just trying to get this right.
