Bromeliads always die after blooming, it's final part of their life. If the plant is strong enough, it will make small ones around it's base. So keep caring about it, just be careful to not overwater dry parts and the base, it might cause rot.

Adicresce - Your plant is a Guzmania and by the looks of it, it's getting burnt by either too much sun or some sort of chemical; either way it's being "cooked".

These plants like it shadier than many other brom's so best move it so it isn't near a window or anywhere it's getting direct sun. They like reasonable light but NOT DIRECT SUN.

It's looking pretty sick right now and to give it a fighting chance, I would cut off the old flower spike as it's now in decline anyway and while ever it's attached, it's drawing nourishment from the plant. Once removed you may find it will start to produce one or two little pups from around the base.

Because of the condition of the plant, I would suggest you don't remove them as they grow, just leave them alone and the old Mother plant will eventually die away and hopefully you'll have a nice healthy pup or pups to take its place.

It is probably worth getting some scissors and cleanly cut away the damage, once leaves get burnt they are susceptible to some form of attack, cutting the leaf off cleanly usually slows or stops the damage. It should replace itself with a decent number of pups.
